Anti wrinkle

Anti-wrinkle injections are a quick and effective non-surgical way to tackle the signs of ageing. As we age, our skin begins to lose its elasticity. This causes fine lines to set into the skin, due to repeated movements and natural sagging. Anti-wrinkle treatments can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles including lines along the forehead and the outer corners of the eyes.

Anti wrinkle injections contain a naturally purified protein that works to relax the muscles in your face and block nerve signals to the muscles. These proteins have been used worldwide for decades and are very safe to use.

Wrinkles are the most common and obvious sign of skin ageing.
As our skin ages, it loses volume and elasticity, losing its ability to bounce back. As a result, creases that naturally occur as our skin moves become permanent due to repetitive movements such as facial expressions.
An anti-ageing injectable treatment can help slow down these signs of ageing.
Anti-wrinkle injections have been used for more than two decades in aesthetic cosmetics to rejuvenate the appearance of skin ageing, smooth existing wrinkles, and prevent others from developing.

Our aesthetic practitioner will be happy to advise on what treatments would be best suited to your beauty goals during a free consultation.
After this, they will inject the relaxants into the muscles.
These will work to prevent the facial muscles from contracting, restricting muscle movements.
Reducing the muscle’s movement smooths the appearance of fine lines, leaving you wrinkle-free.

The most common areas of application for wrinkle treatment with muscle relaxants are crow’s feet (lines around the eyes), frown lines (lines between the eyebrows), and forehead lines. However, this cosmetic procedure can also be used to reduce bunny lines (lines on the side of the nose), to avoid a gummy smile (to lower the upper lip and reduce the appearance of the upper gum), to lift the brow area, or to slim the jawline (facial slimming).
Also, excessive sweating can be treated with muscle relaxant injections.
The benefits of anti-ageing injections can be seen up to 4 months after the treatment, which typically takes between 15 and 30 minutes to complete.

  • Smoothen and reduce the appearance of existing wrinkles.
  • Prevent the formation of new lines.
  • Natural-looking results.

Some of the most common types of wrinkles that can appear include:

  • Frown lines – These run across the forehead horizontally along the top of the T zone.
  • ‘Worry’ lines – These are wrinkles that create an ’11’ between your brows.
  • ‘Bunnies’ – These are wrinkles at the bridge of your nose, horizontally between your eyes.
  • Crows feet – These are found on the outside corners of the eyes.
  • Laugh lines – These are the lines from the side of the nose leading down to the edge of your mouth.
  • Lip lines – These are the small vertical lines above your top lip.
  • Marionette lines – As cheeks start to droop these wrinkles begin to form below your lips.
  • Platysmal bands (Neck) – The muscles that span from our clavicles to the lower part of the face that become wrinkled over time.
  • Chin dimpling – When chin muscles contract over time, this can cause wrinkles and creases to appear.
  • These are the most common types of wrinkles that our patients will often look to have treated.

The needle used by our specialists is so fine that you are unlikely to feel anything more than a light pinch to the treated area.

There is very little to no pain during treatment, however if you would prefer local anaesthetic or a facial tension machine, this is also available. The pain relief that we offer for local anaesthetic are topical and injectable lidocaine. The injections are done with a very small needle and almost all our patients can tolerate this with no problems, so the above should not be necessary.

Yes, anti wrinkle injections are extremely safe and have been performed for decades all over the world.

Before any treatment, we require a full medical consultation to understand your skin health and medical background in more detail. This helps us to determine whether or not you would be suitable for a particular treatment.

We would never recommend a treatment for anyone if our experienced practitioners deemed it to be unsafe or dangerous for your individual situation.

Treatment usually takes around 10 minutes. This will vary depending on the area being treated and the amount of anti wrinkle solution being used.

This procedure is available to adults over the age of 18, and requires a full consultation prior to treatment.

It is important to note that results do vary between patients due to age, lifestyle and medical history. However, this will be covered in your initial consultation before any treatment takes place.

Anti wrinkle injectables are only temporary.

Cosmetic anti wrinkle injections last between 4-6 months. So if you want your skin to stay plump and wrinkle-free long term, more than one treatment cycle is required.

Results are visible after one treatment, but aesthetics do vary between patients depending on how quickly your body processes the toxin.

Although injectables can last for months, there are things that you can do to prevent wrinkles after your treatment.

Some of the things you can do to help your injectables last longer include:

  • Hydrating with water – Drinking around 6 to 8 glasses of water daily can help to keep your skin hydrated. This will help to prevent wrinkles returning.
  • Moisturise and cleanse your skin – Help your skin stay refreshed with delicate cleansers that help to remove dead skin. It is also important to use moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated and wrinkle free. Besides, who wants dry skin anyway?
  • Eat a healthy diet – The food we eat can also have an impact on the health of our skin. Certain foods, like fish, nuts and seeds, can help to increase the length of time that your injectables will last.
  • Avoid smoking – In short, smoking is terrible for your skin. Even after treatment, smoking is likely to reduce the lasting effects of the injectables and cause your skin to wrinkle again. Of course, this can be difficult, but by stopping or cutting back, your smooth and wrinkle free face will thank you.

By following the suggestions above, you will help to keep your skin healthy and wrinkle free. Lifestyle choices are the main factors in the formation of wrinkles. By making these changes you will certainly get the most out of your anti wrinkle injectables.

Although these injections can cause side effects, they are often temporary and are kept to the injection site.

The most common side effects of anti wrinkle injections include:

  • Redness.
  • Bruising.
  • Swelling.
  • Facial pain.
  • Headache and nausea.
  • Muscle weakness.

All of the above are temporary side effects and will often only last for a few days.

As with most cosmetic treatments, we would recommend a consultation with one of our in-house medical cosmetic professionals to inform you of the potential risks before your first injection.
